Here is a list of shit I like. I use every service listed here. I don’t have time to dick around with useless shit, so I wouldn’t waste your time either. Some, not all, give a referral bonus to either you or me if you decide to use it too.
Schwab
I use this for my own personal stock market investing. Y’know, the non-automated stuff. I love the mobile app. The full website is pretty awesome too, if you want to go full-nerd style. You get $100 bucks if you sign up as a referral, I don’t get shit. Do your homework and compare against other platforms, but the major ones are all pretty competitive / equivalent. Vanguard
So my company doesn’t have a 401K or anything, but they do have a nice monthly bonus program. So I am on my own for retirement investing. I set up an IRA with Vanguard and it is fully invested with VTSAX. And that is all I have to say about that.
PersonalCapital
This is where I keep track of my shit. I was going to talk about how you should use it to keep track of your shit too, but they denied my affiliate request. Probably because all the goddamed swearing violates their profanity policy. So fuck it. Do whatever you want.
ibotta
Seriously? Isn’t that the grocery coupon app? Well yeeessssss, but there’s so much more. The booze rebates are fucking excellent. And there’s tons of online shopping rebates too. hello Amazon. But mostly I’m just here for the booze rebates. (Referral code CTDXGOF)
Lyft
So I’ve noticed when traveling within the US lately that a lot more places are charging for parking a vehicle on premises. Between that and the rental car costs – even the cheapest option with my company discount – it is still wayyyy less expensive to call for a car when necessary. I’ve tried both Uber and Lyft, and I have to say, fares are equivalent, but overall Lyft seems better. I can’t help but think it stems directly from the corporate culture scandals we all heard about at Uber. Overall, I’m more comfortable with the cars and with the caliber of drivers at Lyft. ThredUp
My beloved local consignment store closed after 17 years, over some bullshit about renewing their lease agreement with a new landlord. I wasn’t able to find another suitable store in my area, it’s either super high-end or wrong-side-of-the-tracks. No middle ground. So finally I found ThredUp. It’s an online consignment store. Perfect middle ground so far. Quality stuff, without the retail prices. As long as you know your sizes and brands, it seems good so far. I’ll update again when I’ve shopped more categories. Here’s $10 off your purchase.
